Mal’s Random Musing: I have always liked the hybrid, genre smashing world of Shadowrun. From early on with the first edition ruleset when I played the paper and dice version with friends, to the SNES version which is still an iconic part of gaming history, to today’s offerings. Shadowrun Chronicles, attempts to take the elements of sitting around a table with friends an digitally project that vibe into the computer. Does it translate? Yes, for the most part it does. While the ‘hub’ areas fall a bit flat, the missions you go on are anything but. The environments, enemies and challenges all change and keep things fresh. As a huge fan of turn based tactical combat, the fact that this is carried over even in co-op mode is outstanding. If you enjoy dark sci-fi, rpgs and games like XCOM then this is likely a game you’d enjoy.

Cliffhanger Productions has announced the release of Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown, the first in a series of episodic content blending tactical game play and RPG elements. To celebrate the release, Cliffhanger has sent out a brand new trailer set in the dystopian future featured in the Shadowrun games.

Kevin groups up with game developers Jan Wagner and Mitch Gitelman to play a co-op session of Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown.
